Postgame Summary Baltic Hurricanes(8-0) vs. Berlin Adler(4-5)

Berlin, 25 June 2011 -  Baltic Hurricanes 17 - Berlin Adler 14

The Kiel Baltic Hurricanes won their last game before the summer break versus the Berlin Adler. Before 1170 spectators at the Friedrich-Ludwig-Jahn-Stadium, the Hurricanes began in the first half with a strong runnibg game. Julian Ampaw was used heavily.  TheHurricanes continued there attack in the second half but the Eagles did not give up.
"We have been, unfortunately, a bit careless," Head Coach Patrick ESUM summed up after the game. "But in the end we controlled the ball and the time and so secured the victory."
The Hurricanes on the first possession of the game, worked primarily with a passing attack. On the Berlin's 7-yard line, they concluded the drive with a 24-yard field goal by Julian Dohrendorf. The offense could not rest. Birthday boy Falk Horn intercepted a pass from Clint Toon. This Canes took advantage of the the great field possiesion. A 29-yard pass from Jef f Welsh to Julian Dohrendorf brought up at Berlin's 1-yard line. Hurricanes running back Julian Ampaw carried the ball for the first touchdown of the day. After a successful extra point ended the Hurricanes for the first quarter with a 10-0 lead.
In the second quarter, it was linebacker Efe Evwaraye ended another Berlin drive with an interception. The Canes again scored with tight end Cedric Charpilloz with a 20-yard pass in the endzone for the second touchdown Berlin and 17-0 lead. The Hurricanes came before half-time break once more in the Redzone the Berlin and tried again a field goal. This time the shot was over 32 yards but unfortunately not.
After the halftime break Berlin's Karl Michel finished the first Kiel attack with intercepted a pass from Jeff Welsh. The field goal, which then tried to Berlin, was not successful. The audience at the Friedrich-Ludwig-Jahn-Stadium until the fourth quarter should see no more points. Especially the 70 Accompanying Kiel Hurricanes fans no touchdowns would get to see more. The Eagles fought their way back into the game and so was running back Tory Cooper finally the way into the endzone for the 7:17 from a Berlin perspective.
The Hurricanes then had to quit their possession with a punt, while the eagle on the other hand again worked through the field. Quarterback Clint Toon ran the final three yards to 13:17 approximately one minute before closing itself Justin Sterz shortened with the PAT 14:17. The Eagles, who had by this time consumed all timeouts trying onside kick again by now to come into possession, but the shot went wide. Thus the Baltic Hurricanes got the ball and could abknien the remaining seconds.
Now comes the GFL in the summer break. The Hurricanes play until 24 July back to Marburg, but it goes for eight hurricanes in just over a week at the World Championships in Austria even further. Then come on in the second half of the season with Marburg and Braunschweig yet another serious opponent to the Hurricanes.
